Manaslu Expedition in Nepal

Mt. Manaslu is a stunning mountain in the Mansiri subrange of the Himalayas. With a towering elevation of 8163 meters (26781 ft), it is the world’s 8th highest mountain. The mountain’s name originates from the Sanskrit word “Manasa,” which means soul. Therefore, it is generally considered the “spirit of the mountain.” Toshio Imanishi and Gyalzen Norbu first ascended the beautiful mountain in 1953.
It is one of only the 14 peaks above 8000 meters. Hence, climbers from all over the world arrive at this gorgeous mountain for an incredible expedition. Mt. Manaslu Expedition offers an excellent climbing adventure. Few technical sections require proper training. Climbers should be well-versed in using mountaineering gear and equipment ahead of the expedition.
This Manaslu expedition in Nepal starts with a scenic drive from Kathmandu to Soti Khola. The trek then takes you to the beautiful landscapes of the hilly region to arrive at Machha Khola. Trekkers will then cross the Himalayan white waters through suspension bridges to arrive at village settlements.
There is also a stunning mountain pass of Larkya La Pass (5213m) before arriving at our destination. Finally, after crossing several village settlements in the region, we will arrive at the villages of Jagat. After observing the beautiful local settlements of the area, we will continue our journey through the villages of Namrung and Sama Gaon.
We will finally arrive at the Manaslu Base Camp after trekking for several days. In Manaslu Base Camp, we will camp with the help of our Sherpa guides. We will summit Manaslu after acclimatizing and training at the Base Camp. The training includes various technical climbs with mountaineering gears at high altitudes.
Then, we will return through the same route that we took earlier. We will observe a different perspective of the region passing through the same settlements. From there, we will return to Kathmandu on the scenic drive, which takes around 6-7 hours.
The Manaslu region is blessed with some of the most diverse natural resources and incredible wildlife. There are pine, fir, and rhododendron forests throughout the route. The Manaslu expedition is the ideal beginning step if you want to go for the Everest expedition.
Manaslu region is also unique in its culture and heritage with monasteries, chortens, and other Buddhist landmarks. Trails of this expedition pass through rough mountain valleys, waterfalls, glacial paths, pristine rivers, etc. Some of the region’s wildlife include snow leopard, red panda, Himalayan tahrs, etc.
The majority ethnic community in the region includes Gurung, followed by Nubri. They mostly follow different forms of Buddhism. Travelers will experience a warm welcome with incredible hospitality while staying in local tea houses and lodges. You can learn the tradition and heritage and taste the delicious cuisine of the local people.
